How to Transfer Data from iPhone to iPhone?
Share
At some point, we all upgrade to a new iPhone. Even if it's a Refurbished Apple iPhone, it’s new to you! That means you’ll need to transfer your data from your old device to your new one so you can continue using all your notes, contacts, and favorite apps without any hassle.
Apple provides an efficient method for transferring data, and there are three ways to do it. Let’s go through them step by step.
Before You Start
- Make sure you have a backup of your old iPhone.
- Have your Apple ID password ready.
Method 1: Transfer Data Using a Computer
To transfer data from a computer to your new iPhone, you first need to back up your old iPhone on your computer. If you haven’t done this yet, check out our guide on how to back up your iPhone?
If you already have a backup saved on your computer, follow these steps:
1. Connect your new iPhone to the computer using a cable and open iTunes (on Windows or macOS Mojave and earlier) or Finder (on macOS Catalina and later).
2. Select your connected device from the sidebar and click Restore Backup, then choose the most recent backup.
3. Wait for the restore process to complete. Keep your iPhone connected to Wi-Fi and plugged into power to allow iCloud content (photos, music, and apps) to download automatically.
Method 2: Transfer Data Using iCloud
1. Turn on your new iPhone and follow the on-screen setup.
2. Connect to Wi-Fi and select Restore from iCloud Backup on the Apps & Data screen.
3. Sign in to iCloud and choose the latest backup.
4. Stay connected to Wi-Fi and power while data restores.
Method 3: Transfer Data Using Your Old iPhone
1. Connect your old iPhone to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
2. Do the same on your new iPhone – the "Hello" screen should appear. Continue until you reach the Quick Start screen.
3. Place your old iPhone next to your new one. A prompt will appear on the old device – follow the instructions to scan an animation with the camera.
4. Continue on your new iPhone and enter your old device’s passcode when prompted. When you reach the Transfer Your Data screen, tap Download from iCloud.
⚠️ Note: To transfer data wirelessly from an old iPhone, both devices must be running iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, or later. All refurbished iPhones in our store support the latest operating system, so all the transfer methods mentioned will work with our devices.
Now your new iPhone is set up with all your previous data! 🚀
