What to Set Up First on Your New iPhone

First, Take Care of Your Eyes:

Enable Automatic Appearance Switching.
Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Appearance, and switch on the Automatic option

Turn On True Tone.
On the same screen, toggle the switch to On for True Tone.

Activate Night Shift.
Also on the same screen, go to Night Shift and toggle Scheduled to On.

These settings will help reduce eye strain by adjusting to softer light at night with Night Shift and minimizing blue light exposure through True Tone, promoting better sleep. Plus, automatic appearance switching between light and dark mode will make your screen easier on your eyes throughout the day.

Second, Save Battery Life:

Set Auto-Lock to 1 Minute.
Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock, and set it to 1 minute. This helps save battery and boosts your phone’s security.

Disable "Hey Siri."
To save energy from constant voice monitoring, turn off Siri's voice activation. Go to Settings > Siri & Search > Listen for "Hey Siri", and switch it Off. You can still activate Siri by holding the side button.

Enable Battery Percentage Display.
Stay informed about your battery level. Go to Settings > Battery, and toggle Battery Percentage to On.

Turn On Optimized Battery Charging.
Prolong your battery lifespan by activating this feature. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging, and toggle Optimized Battery Charging to On.

Disable Automatic App Downloads.
Prevent unnecessary downloads that drain battery. Go to Settings > App Store, and toggle App Downloads to Off. If you prefer to download manually and save even more battery, toggle App Updates and In-App Contentto Off as well. Just make sure you periodically check for important updates yourself.
